Detailed Summary

Course Name

DC26T22C AI for Productivity Beginners

Who is this course for?

This course is for adults who can already open an AI tool and type a simple prompt. It suits people who finished AI for Productivity: Beginners, or who have used a tool a bit at home or work. It is good for learners who want to use AI more for study and everyday jobs.

Entry Requirements

You should already be able to open an AI tool and type a basic prompt. For example, you may have finished AI for Productivity: Beginners, or used a tool a little before.

What You Will Learn

By the end of the course you will be able to: Follow steps to write something with AI, then make it shorter or clearer. Sum up a longer piece of text and pick out the main points. Write clearer prompts by adding more detail or an example. Make and improve a picture for a real job. Use a checklist to check if an answer is true, fair and safe. Follow simple rules to stay safe (no private details, respect other people's work).

Course Aim

To help learners feel more confident using AI for everyday jobs, and to check that the answers are true, fair and safe to use.

Course Length

18 hours, 6 weekly sessions of 3 hours.

What You Will Need to Bring

Nothing

How You Will Learn

Classroom teaching/Lectures, Practical exercises/Workshops, Group discussions/Collaboration, Online/Self-study modules. You spend most of your time making real things on a device, with the tutor there to help. Your tutor demonstrates the how, how and why of each task before you start. You share your work with others and look at each other's answers. There is a short, optional prompt sheet to practise between sessions.

How you will be assessed

Coursework/Assignments, Portfolio submission. There is no exam. You show the tutor that you can write a prompt, improve it, and check the answer. You keep a small folder of your finished work. At the end, you give a short, friendly talk about one thing AI helped you make and how you checked it.

Where Next

You could move onto our other Level 1 digital skills courses. Confident learners can aim for the BCS Foundation Award in Generative AI later on.
