Detailed Summary

Course Name

Digital - Getting Work Ready

Who is this course for?

This course is for individuals who are ready to enter or return to the workforce but feel held back by their digital skills. It is specifically designed for those who may know what they want to say on a CV, but do not know how to type, save, or upload it to a job site.

Entry Requirements

Basic Computer Familiarity: You should be able to turn on a computer and use a mouse. Work Readiness: You should have a general idea of your work history or a draft of a CV (even if it is handwritten). Motivation: A desire to use digital tools to secure employment.

What You Will Learn

Digitizing Your CV: Learn how to use Google Docs to type up your CV from scratch, format it professionally, and save it as a PDF (the format employers prefer). Mastering the Upload: Understand the "Choose File" process—learn how to find your CV on the computer and successfully upload it to job applications and emails. Online Job Applications: Navigate major job boards (like Indeed or Reed) and learn how to fill out complex online application forms without losing your progress. Professional Online Presence: A beginner's guide to LinkedIn—how to set up a basic profile and how to use it to search for local opportunities. Using Google Apps for Work: Learn how Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive are used in a modern workplace to communicate and stay organized.

Course Aim

The aim is to digitize your employability. You will move from having a pen-and-paper approach to a fully digital professional presence, gaining the skills needed to create documents, navigate job boards, and present yourself online to employers.

Course Length

6 weeks
