What You Will Learn
This course is split into practical, creative theme zones:
Theme Zone 1: Introduction to Felting and Sourcing Waste
Activities: Learn how different wools and old woollen clothes can be reused, and practice safe handling of barbed felting needles on test pads.
What you learn: The basic science of how fibres lock together and how to stay safe while using sharp craft tools.
Theme Zone 2: Flat Needle Felting and Upcycled Patches
Activities: Use stencils to needle-felt simple, colourful designs (like stars or flowers) onto old wool sweaters or denim scraps to create patches.
What you learn: How to control your needle speed to lower your heart rate and how to fix or decorate old clothing instead of throwing it away.
Theme Zone 3: Traditional Wet Felting and Coasters
Activities: Layer loose recycled fibres with warm, soapy water and roll them together to create a strong, flat piece of handmade felt.
What you learn: How water and pressure change textures, and how the rhythmic rolling motion can help soothe daily stress.
Theme Zone 4: 3D Shapes and Group Showcase
Activities: Sculpt small 3D felt shapes, such as soft beads or animal charms, and arrange your finished items for a gentle group viewing.
What you learn: How to build solid structures out of soft wool and how to share positive feedback with your classmates.
