AAT Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping

Who is this course for?

For learners who have completed AAT L2. Ideal for people wanting to become a fully qualified bookkeeper. After this qulaification you can get AAT Bookkeeping Membership (AATQB) status and have the option to become a self-employed Licensed Bookkeeper. Covers advanced double-entry and final accounts.

Entry Requirements

AAT L2 in Bookkeeping or Accounting. Ideally GCSE Maths & English Grade C (4) or better or L2 Functional Skills in both.

What You Will Learn

Understand the accounting principles underlaying final accounts preparation. Understand the principles of advanced double-entry bookkeeping. Implement procedures for the acquisition and disposal of non-current assets. Prepare and record depreciation calculations. Record period end adjustments. Produce and extend the trial balance. Produce financial statements for sole traders and partnerships. Interpret financial statements using profitability ratios. Prepare accounting records from incomplete information. Preparing, and submitting Value Added Tax (VAT) returns to HM Revenue & Customs. Understand legislation requirements relating to VAT Calculate VAT. Review and verify VAT returns. Understand principals of payroll. Report information within the organisation.

Course Aim

In this qualification you will master more complex accounting disciplines including financial processes, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts and ethical practices for accountants.

Classroom based teaching and practice exercises to develop accounting skills, This will include practice exams on paper and on computers, developing your IT skills and exam readiness in our computer suites. AAT content slides with explanation and discussion. Group work tasks, paired tasks and individual tasks in class. Computer based practice tasks on Google Classroom/ AAT platforms.
